Nearly 15 years ago my father came up with an idea for a new invention which he thought was innovative in its concept and would be popular in the market place. As it would turn out his initial presumptions would be correct. He took his idea to a friend who had a factory, a prototype was soon made and applications for the applicable Intellectual Property obtained. What they had achieved up until now my father would describe as the easy part.

The next part was to find interested parties that were willing to develop, manufacture and build a retail network for the product both locally and overseas. This was easier said than done. There were many interested parties that all saw the merit of the invention and wanted to get involved but when it came to the crunch pulled out for one reason or another. As a consequence over a period of years my father and his friend eventually became less and less interested and eventually the invention was left to sit on the shelf.

From my perspective, I sat back and watched the story develop and build and then slowly die off. Although my first instinct was to try and get involved and help, I wasn’t qualified and didn’t have the skills required so. All I could do was sit back watch from the sidelines. This to me was frustrating seeing something with such great potential die away the way it did. It was very sad indeed.

It’s funny though how life can turn out and it wasn’t until just over a year ago that all the pieces finally fell into place. I’d gotten involve with a friend a year earlier promoting his invention on the internet and through a series of circumstances that evolved through my involvement in that project the final pieces of the puzzle suddenly fell into place.

What we needed to was now at our finger tips. To cut a long story short I went to my father and his friend with a business plan and now 1 year later we have everything in place to start manufacturing and retailing the product both locally and overseas.

As a consequence over the years I’ve witnessed firsthand just how hard it is to introduce a new invention to the marketplace and I’ve also become very aware that some of the key ingredients are obviously promotion, marketing and exposure to the market. Exposure can mean contacts and it also can mean sales.

Many new inventors and innovators believe the their new invention is the next best thing and expect the all that they have do is show it to someone and then 6 months later it will be a hit. Little do they know when they start on their journey exactly what is involved in getting it to the marketplace. Because the above ingredients are just so important I’ve decided to publish a new website. It’s called Inspirational Innovation. The idea is for inventors and innovators to submit their inventions so that they can expose them to the public, manufacturers and other interested parties. Inspirational Innovation is a platform to draw attention, promote and assist inventions to get the true recognition that they deserve and the best part about it is that it is FREE.

All the inventor has to do is register, write a short article, submit it and if it has suitable content it will be published. In a nutshell it is FREE publicity for inventors.

Now that winter has come – in many areas there is already enough snow to make the landscape look like in a fairy tale. And that brings us directly to the topic: Why not read some tales again? There is a wonderful new book with tales: The Tales of Beedle the Bard (german title: Die Märchen von Beedle dem Barden by Joanne K. Rowling of Harry Potter fame. It contains five wonderfully illustrated tales (the illustrations were done by J.K. Rowling herself) and is surely going to be a bestseller soon.

My next suggestion is a real classic: “The Pillars of the World” by Ken Follet (again, as I am german, the german title: Die Säulen der Erde), a novel with colorful insight to life in the medieval ages in England. A very complex story about quite a lot of people involved in building a cathedral or some in trying to prevent it…

And if you like the writing style of Ken Follet and if you like the middle ages – why not stick with him and read “World without End” (german title: Die Tore der Welt) It is somehow a sequel to “The Pillars of the World”, as it plays in the same city only 200 years later and some of the protagonists are descendants of the first book’s heroes. At a closer look it a self-contained independent story, but as captivating as its predecessor!

Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to whales and porpoises.  They are considered to be amongst the most intelligent of animals and their often friendly appearance and seemingly playful attitude have made them popular in human culture.  They are often regarded as one of Earth’s most intelligent animals, though it is hard to say just how intelligent dolphins are, as comparisons of species’ relative intelligence are complicated by differences in sensory apparatus, response modes, and nature of cognition.

Dolphins are social, living in pods (also called “schools”) of up to a dozen individuals.  They are known to have sex for reasons other than reproduction, sometimes also engaging in acts of a homosexual nature.  They are capable of making a broad range of sounds using nasal airsacs located just below the blowhole. They are sound oriented in that they constantly scan their surrounding with bursts of sound. Dolphin echolocation clicks are amongst the loudest sounds made by animals in the sea.  They have demonstrated a wide range of sounds and are believed to have a unique ‘language’ of their own. They are conscious breathers, this means that they have to be awake or semi-conscious to breathe or else they will drown. 

Dolphins are mammals, not fish, which means that, like humans, they are warm-blooded, breathe air and give birth to live young whom they feed with milk. Dolphins mate in spring and early summer with the gestation lasting from 10 to 12 months. They are well known for their exceptional learning abilities in captivity, and the songs of whales have been shown to be culturally influenced. They are capable of imitation and memorization; they demonstrate foresight, learn from observation, communicate experience, solve complex problems, perform elaborate tasks, and learn multiple procedures simultaneously.

Essential fatty acids (EFA’s) are fatty acids which cannot be synthesized in the body, which means that people can only access them through dietary sources. They are also, as the name implies, essential to human health, performing a number of functions in the body and interacting with a variety of other compounds in the body. These fats are the “good fats” which are a necessary part of the human diet.

There are two different groups of EFA: omega-3, and omega-6. Omega-3s include linolenic acid, while omega-6s includes linoleic acid. Plant sources, including nuts and seeds, are a good source of essential fatty acids, as are marine sources. Each group of fatty acids are important for healthy body function. Additionally, the body also uses omega-9s, which can be produced in the body as long as omega-3s and omega-6s are present.

In an effort to lose weight, many Americans rely solely on non-fat or low-fat foods. What they’re forgetting is that some fats are good for you, even essential to proper immune function, blood clotting and cellular structure, function, and growth.
